Description:

The Archaeologist will function as a Crew Chief for archaeological field research projects conducted by the Cultural Resources Management Program. This position will supervise aspects of the archaeological survey and excavation projects under the direction of the Field Director

Essential Functions of Archaeologist III (Crew Chief:

* Function as Crew Chief on archaeological field research projects preformed by the Cultural Resource Management Program.
* Assist the Field Director in directing and coordinating archaeological fieldwork including surveys, mapping and excavation of prehistoric and historic sites.
* Assist the Field Director in preparing work schedules and project reports.
* Assist the Field Director in providing training in basic archaeological field techniques for field staff.
* Assist the Field Director in maintaining a complete inventory of archaeological field equipment.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Archaeologist III (Crew Chief)


Required Knowledge, Skill and Abiltiy for Archaeologist III (Crew Chief) :

* Knowledge of HuHuKam and/or Southwest Archaeology
* Knowledge of prehistoric and historic artifacts
* Ability to complete relevant field forms, track specimen numbers/forms/artifact bags, undertake trench profiling and feature excavations and documentation
* Ability to carry out basic surveying and excavation methods
* Ability to supervise effectively
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials and the general public
* Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

* Bachelor?s Degree in Anthropology with specialization in Archaeology
* A minimum of one (1) year experience as an Assistant Crew Chief.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:

* Valid State Driver?s license with proof of driving record for the past 39 months; may be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit.
* Proof of driving record must be submitted with application.
